1927. Savoy Ballroom in New York. A newspaper reporter asks a dancer what dance they are doing. The dancer looks down to a headline about Charles Lindbergh's solo flight to Paris: "Lindy Hops the Atlantic" and replies to the reporter "Lindy Hop." It stuck.

2005. Austin Grill in Baltimore. A grad student sees a flyer and shows up to learn to swing dance. It stuck.
